Went into town last night, and was approached by a
ragged old man with no shoes and a Wall Street Journal under his arm.
“Please, sir, can you spare ten dollars?”
“I don’t think so,” I replied; “you’ll just spend it on booze.”
“No, sir; I don’t drink!”
“Well, then, you’ll probably buy cigars with it.”
“No, sir; I don’t smoke cigars!”
My eye fell on the Wall Street Journal tucked underneath his arm. “I suppose you’ll buy a book on technical analysis with the money, then.”
“SIR!”, he snapped angrily; “I most certainly don’t follow THAT stupid crap!”
“In that case”, I said, “I will gladly give you the ten dollars you want if you will let me introduce you to my wife.”
“Why do you want to do that, sir?”
“I want her to see what a person who doesn’t drink, doesn’t smoke cigars, and doesn’t believe in technical analysis looks like.”
